Image to Text uses optical character recognition (OCR) to turn the words in a screenshot, photo or scanned page into editable text. The Tesseract OCR engine runs inside your browser — it is downloaded once from this site and cached — so receipts, IDs and notes are read on your device instead of being sent to a cloud OCR service. You get a confidence score and can edit, copy or download the text.
Open Image to Text (OCR)
Launch Image to Text (OCR) directly in your browser — there is nothing to download, install, or configure first.
Add your image
Drag and drop or select the image (or images) you want to work with. They load straight into Image to Text (OCR) and are never uploaded.
Adjust and apply
Fine-tune the available settings and run Image to Text (OCR). Your images are processed entirely in the browser.
English is supported today. For best results use a sharp, well-lit image with straight, high-contrast text.
The OCR engine and English language data (about 7 MB) download once; later images are recognised much faster.
Neat print-style handwriting sometimes works, but OCR is designed for printed text, so results on handwriting vary.
