Add Page Numbers to PDF inserts page numbers into an existing PDF. Place them at the top or bottom — left, centre or right — and pick a format such as Page 1 / 12, 1 / 12, Page 1 or just 1, or write your own prefix and suffix. You can set the starting number, font size (8–32 pt), edge margin and text colour, and number every page or only a range. A preview of the first page shows exactly where the number will sit. The numbers are added with pdf-lib inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
Choose your PDF
Drop the file into Source PDF. A preview of the first page appears with a sample number on it.
Pick the style
Choose a position and a format preset, then fine-tune the start number, font size, edge margin and colour.
Add and download
Press Add page numbers, then Download PDF. The numbered file can go straight on to Compress PDF or Watermark PDF.
Choose Specific pages and enter a range that leaves out the cover, such as 2-20. Numbering begins on the first selected page with your start number, so set it to 1 if the second page should read 1.

No. The numbers are drawn on top of each page; the text, images and links already in the PDF are left as they are.
