URL Encode & Decode converts text to percent-encoding and back, with three strategies for the cases that usually go wrong. Component uses encodeURIComponent, escaping everything except letters, digits and a few marks such as - _ . and ~, which suits a single query value or path segment. Full URL uses encodeURI, which leaves separators such as : / ? & = and # alone so the link keeps working. Form field encodes like Component but writes spaces as +, matching classic HTML form submissions. Decode reverses each one, and Reverse using output swaps direction to check a round trip. It all runs in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
Choose Encode or Decode
Pick the direction, then paste the URL or value into the input box.
Pick a strategy
Use Component for a single value, Full URL for a complete link, or Form field when spaces should become +.
Copy the output
The result updates as you type. Press Copy output, or Reverse using output to test the round trip.
encodeURIComponent escapes reserved characters such as / ? & = and #, so use it for a single value inside a URL. encodeURI leaves them alone because it assumes you are encoding a complete address.
%20 is correct anywhere in a URL, while + means a space only in query strings and form data (application/x-www-form-urlencoded). Use Form field mode when the receiving system expects +.
Every % must be followed by two hex digits that form valid UTF-8. A lone % (as in 50% off) or a truncated sequence causes an error, so encode a literal % as %25.
Component mode escapes the :// and / of the address too. Use Full URL for a complete link, and Component only for the values you insert into it.
