EPUB to TXT extracts the readable text of an ebook into a plain .txt file. The book is unpacked in your browser and its chapters are read in spine order — the reading order defined inside the book, not the order of files in the archive. Choose how chapters are separated (a numbered chapter divider, a --- rule or just blank lines) and whether to include each section’s detected title. Headings, paragraphs, list items, quotes and table cells come through as clean blocks of text, while images and layout are dropped. Copy the result or download it as TXT; the EPUB never leaves your device.
Load the EPUB
Drop an .epub file on the drop area or choose it from your device. The title, author and first sections appear in the book summary.
Choose the layout
Pick Chapter divider, Horizontal rule or Blank lines only, and decide whether to include detected section titles.
Copy or download
Review the text in the output panel, then press Copy text or Download TXT.
No. Books with DRM have encrypted chapter files, so their text cannot be read. The tool works with DRM-free EPUBs, such as public-domain titles and books sold without DRM.
Chapter divider inserts a numbered line such as ===== Chapter 3 ===== between sections, Horizontal rule uses ---, and Blank lines only leaves an empty gap. Sections are numbered in reading order, so a cover or contents page counts as one.
Each title is taken from the first heading in the section, then its page title, then its file name. If the titles add noise, untick Include detected section titles.
